Understanding Grace

Ephesians 2:8-10: For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast. For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them.

Grace has some definitions that every believer should understand. Unmerited favor is a good one. It means that God gave us something we did not deserve. We are all sinners.

Romans 3:23: All have sinned and come short of the glory of God.

Sometimes we forget as believers, how unworthy we were to receive such a wonderful gift, that we didn*t get it because we deserved it. We didn*t get it because we were better than others.

Romans 12:3: For I say, through the grace given unto me, to every man that is among you, not to think of himself more highly than he ought to think; but to think soberly, according as God hath dealt to every man the measure of faith.

Grace means God is for us. Not a good dictionary definition, but I like it.

God*s
Riches
At
Christ*s
Expense

Salvation is a free gift to us, but it was very expensive for Jesus. It cost Him His life.

Strong*s Concordance definition of Grace: the divine influence upon the heart, including gratitude. One of the major differences between the person I was before I trusted Christ and the person I am now is that I am grateful to God for everything. The more I recognize I deserved nothing, the more grateful I am.
